Progress so far?

Last week,(April 13th to April 18th), I was unable to learn as much Dutch as I had planned due to the fact I was preparing for UIL. Now that it's over, I want to pick up where I left off- and redo some lessons concerning the basics. Since I haven't practiced in a while, I can only remember a few words in the Dutch language.

When I began learning Dutch on Duolingo, my lessons started out with me already learning words- such as "woman", "man", "boy", "girl", etc. But I want to learn even simpler than that. What could be more simple? The alphabet, of course.

When looking at the Dutch Alphabet, I noticed their alphabet is very similar to ours. However, as I mentioned in my last post, the pronunciation contrasts.

So what is my goal this week? To learn the alphabet by heart. Learning the alphabet sounds easy to a person, but once it's a foreign language, it becomes challenging.
I will be trying to memorize sentences as well, but the alphabet is my main goal.

Can I learn to speak Dutch?

Over the week, I've decided to go with learning a foreign language- and that language is dutch.

In the past few days, I have been using Duolingo (https://www.duolingo.com/) to learn the vocabulary. It seemed simple at first, but Dutch can be quite challenging. Learning words and phrases that appear similar requires memorization. The dutch alphabet is similar to the english one, though the pronunciation is different-  this will be new for me.

It may be difficult, but I am determined to memorize a few greetings and words in the dutch language. Even after the weeks of Genius Hour, I want to continue my study, and maybe even visit The Netherlands someday.

So far, I only know pronouns and how to introduce myself. This week I want to advance further- learn questions, adjectives, and formal/informal words if I can.

Wish me luck!

First Post!

Hello! Welcome to my blog.
For our English class, we will be participating in 'Genius Hour.'
Now, many already have their ideas planned out, but as for me, my mind is blank. I am not used to having the freedom of learning something on my own; the mere thought makes me nervous. What can I do?

I've had a few ideas, but I haven't stuck with one in particular.
Learning a foreign language is one. It'd be really cool to learn a language such as Russian, French, or even Dutch.
Another idea was to make a cosplay from scratch- however, these things require a span of three months or more to make, and a lot of sewing. I can hardly cut fabric!

One idea I'm debating on is how to draw 'realistically.'As a fan of anime, I've been wanting to change the way I draw the characters and such. I think it'll be neat to bring the animation 'to life' by drawing it in a different style.

One of my friends also suggested I do dream interpretations. When you have a dream, is there a hidden meaning behind it? What does it mean? Is it a vision?

This is all I have for now. I hope to have my idea thought out by the next few days.
I'm leaning more towards the drawing idea? Who knows.
